Cleaning your car this Christmas will go some way towards assisting local people with cardiovascular disease.
Gippsland Motor Group (GMG) will donate takings from its Traralgon car wash on Saturday 17 December to Latrobe Regional Hospital’s annual Christmas Giving initiative.
Between 9am-2pm, motorists will receive a touch-free ‘ultimate’ car wash for $10 (usually valued at $18). GMG will also match the sum of money raised on the day to give the appeal an extra boost.
LRH Chief Executive Peter Craighead (pictured above) said the Christmas car wash donation was an unexpected gift that will have a positive effect on the health outcomes of the community.
“About a quarter of our population in Gippsland is at risk of cardiovascular disease so unfortunately most of us know someone with a heart condition,” Mr Craighead said.
“Our Christmas Giving initiative is raising money for an ultrasound machine to be used in a new cardiac catheterisation laboratory, currently under construction at LRH. It’s a significant piece of equipment worth more than $60,000 and we’re really grateful GMG has joined us in the challenge of raising such a large sum of money.”
LRH will be the first charitable cause to benefit from GMG’s generosity in this way. The dealership plans to open its car wash to other not-for-profit groups in the community from time to time.
“It’s a small gesture that I’m sure will make a difference to the fundraising efforts of so many groups,” Dealer Principal Chris Elliott said. “It’s terrific GMG will play a part in helping to raise awareness about the good work going on in our community.”
People will be able to take time out from their Christmas shopping by enjoying a coffee or meal from the Nosh cafe, also on site.
The Nosh cafe and car wash are located behind Traralgon Mitsubishi and Subaru. Access is via Bradford Drive (turn left off the east-bound lanes of the Princes Highway before the motor dealerships.)
