Latrobe Regional Hospital Foundation
The Foundation is responsible for all internal and external
fundraising for and by the Hospital.
As Gippsland’s largest public health service, Latrobe Regional Hospital provides quality care to a population of over 240,000 people
living in Gippsland.
The hospital relies on the generosity of patients (past and
present), individual donors, community groups and corporate supporters to
supplement government funding in order to ensure that vital capital
improvements are made that will benefit patient care and ultimately save
lives.
We value the partnership with all those people with a spirit of
generosity and commitment who understand that, without this help, Latrobe Regional Hospital could not support the continued upgrading in our facilities and
technology.
Each group has a contribution to make; each group and individual
is greatly valued.
How
you can support and help Latrobe Regional Hospital provide the best in
patient care
Latrobe Regional Hospital is the only specialist cancer hospital in
Gippsland.
Our strengths are our patient-focused care, and our commitment
to training specialist health professionals.
Latrobe Regional Hospital relies on the generosity of the community
in order to maintain its high standards.
There are many ways you can demonstrate your support of Latrobe Regional Hospital.
These include:
- General donations
- Bequests
- Corporate/business community support
- Memorial donations
- Events and other fundraising activities
Donations
Many donors choose to support the Hospital by making cash gifts. This
method of giving can have immediate impact.
All donations over $2 to Latrobe Regional Hospital are
tax-deductible. All donations are acknowledged by letter and a receipt.
There may be other suitable ways to acknowledge your generosity,
which we will be pleased to discuss with you.
Unrestricted gifts are especially valuable
because they provide the flexibility needed to move quickly in unexpected
directions for patient care.
Unrestricted funds also provide the resources to cover the costs of
those critical services of the Hospital that are not entirely financed by
other support.
Restricted gifts benefit specific programs
of the donor's choosing. Funds may be designated for any of the Hospital’s
initiatives in patient care, that may be of personal interest.
We will be pleased to honour a request that your donation be applied
to a particular area or piece of equipment.

Bequests
Many people, having made provision for their families, decide to
support their favourite charities by leaving a bequest in their Will.
Donors can leave a percentage of their estate or a fixed dollar
amount. Another option is to name Latrobe Regional Hospital a residuary
beneficiary, leaving the Hospital what remains after specific bequests to
loved ones are paid.
Bequests may provide an unrestricted gift to be used where most
needed, or be designated for a specific purpose.
By naming Latrobe Regional Hospital in your Will you will
be helping improve your community’s health and provide a legacy which will
have a positive and lasting impact on hundreds of people.
Corporate
Support
Latrobe Regional Hospital,
as the largest public health service in Gippsland, welcomes the support of
the business community.
Companies ranging from some of Australia’s largest corporations to a
number of smaller local businesses, have given generously over the years to Latrobe Regional Hospital, with both their time, and expertise.
This has enabled our hospital to purchase much needed
medical equipment and provide better patient care to many thousands of
people.
There are many ways that this support has been realised, including:
·
Cash
gifts or donations
Donating money towards the purchase of specific items of
medical equipment to clinical areas in need. Donations of $2 or more to Latrobe Regional Hospital are tax deductible.
·
Cause-related
marketing and special events
Active participation in fundraising events and promotions
designed to raise funds for a specific purpose such as building works or
equipment purchases etc. This type of support often includes a cash donation
pledge as well as offering your organisation’s expertise in marketing and
promotional initiatives.
·
Payroll
deductions and gift matching
Some organisations have "adopted" a Latrobe Regional Hospital service, by encouraging their staff to consider regular and small
deductions from their pay, which are then transferred electronically to our
banking account. These employee contributions are tax deductible. Matching
their employees’ commitment to Latrobe Regional Hospital, companies will
often match (dollar for dollar), the level of support provided by their
staff.
·
Gifts
in Kind & Pro Bono Services
Businesses that may not be in the position to provide a
cash gift, often demonstrate their support by donating some of their products
or services. This may be the provision of a raffle prize, auction items
and/or other consumables which might otherwise be an operational or event
management expense to Latrobe Regional Hospital, or by providing their
technical and professional skills free of charge (ie printing, design and
marketing)
·
Staff
/ Community Group Fundraising
Local businesses and community groups sometimes choose to
run a company function or social event (ie. golf day, BBQ, Dinner Dance or
Trivia Night in support of a Latrobe Regional Hospital service). Proceeds
from such occasions are then passed onto the Unit of their choosing.
Memorial
Donations
An alternative to flowers at a funeral of a loved one is a
memorial donation.
Many people find comfort in making a gift in lieu of flowers to
Hospitals, in recognition of the medical care and attention provided to
someone who has recently died.
Latrobe Regional Hospital is a grateful recipient of these gifts
using them to purchase much needed medical equipment that one day will help
save the lives of others.
Envelopes for this purpose are available from the Fundraising
Department.
Please contact one of our Fundraising Development Officers on (03)
5173 8577 to arrange for these envelopes to be delivered prior to the
funeral.
