Mental Health Liaison Services

Mental illness does not discriminate against culture, race or ethnicity.

To ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) communities receive access to appropriate mental health care, Latrobe Regional Hospital offers Aboriginal Liaison services to meet the needs of those communities. 

The Mental Health Koori Liaison Officer has worked with ATSI mental health patients for 10 years and visits ATSI communities, liaising with Mental Health Case Managers and other staff to facilitate culturally sensitive communication and relationship building and to discuss any mental health issues they may be experiencing.
