Social Work

Latrobe Regional Hospital’s Social Work team assists patients and their families to cope with issues that may impact on their hospital stay, therapy, or discharge. 

Our trained staff provide counselling, support and information. 

An action plan is discussed and instigated with the patient, patient's family and treating team. 

Action may include meeting with family members, arranging, facilitating and recording family meetings, provision of information, discussion of options and referrals to services. 

Patients and their families are provided with emotional support and advocacy as required. 

All patients in the Rehabilitation units and programs are seen by a member of the Social Work Team. 

Patients on the acute wards and people in outpatient programs, day procedures or who are being treated in the Emergency Department are seen on referral.
