Macalister Unit

Latrobe Regional Hospital’s Macalister Unit cares for people over 65 years of age who have a mental illness.

The Unit consists of 10 acute assessment beds and 10 psycho-geriatric nursing home beds.

Behaviour therapies, one-on-one discussions and medication therapies are used to improve the lives of inpatients.

Staff in the Macalister Unit pride themselves on providing a home-like environment where problem solving strategies and a team approach are paramount.
