about SDU
The Staff
Development Unit (SDU) is a dynamic unit responsible for delivering and
facilitating continuing professional development for all Latrobe Regional Hospital staff and the promotion of best practice.
This is
achieved by development of education programs by our specialised staff,
facilitating programs conducted by external organisations at Latrobe Regional Hospital and promotion of internal and external professional development
opportunities.
SDU also
administers traineeships for clinical and non-clinical staff.
The Unit is
also active in the promotion of inter-professional and regional education via
collaboration with local health care organisation, through the Nurse
Education Gippsland forum and provision of education to all health care
disciplines at Latrobe Regional Hospital.
SDU has
Clinical Educators in most clinical areas of the Hospital. They provide
support and education by being accessible to staff and facilitating regular
education sessions.
Agreements are
in place with various universities and TAFE colleges to provide clinical
placements for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The unit based
Clinical Educators provide clinical support for graduate nurses and all
clinical staff.
