Shared Care
Antenatal Clinic
Latrobe Regional Hospital offers expectant mothers shared
antenatal care between doctors and midwives.
Shared antenatal care is an option for
healthy women experiencing a normal pregnancy where the care is shared
between a Doctor with visiting rights
at Latrobe Regional Hospital and a midwife.
This gives you a chance to meet
midwives who work at the hospital and spend some time discussing:
- The birthing experience
- Support during childbirth
- Choices in childbirth
- Birth plans
- Breast feeding
- And much more
We have set up this model of care to
give pregnant women more choice and to enhance the care given to you by you
Doctor.
Your Doctor will still be responsible
for your care when you are in labour.
Our Clinics run in sessions either on
Wednesday mornings or Thursday all day.
Mostly 2 midwives share each session so
it is better if you book into the same session each time so you can get to
know one or two midwives.
Good communication is vital between
midwife and Doctor, therefore we have designed a handheld record for you to
carry.
Please bring this with you each time
you have an antenatal visit and when you go into labour.
