If you've watched a major development go up behind LRH over the past 18 months and wondered what's inside, now is your chance to find out.
A community day at LRH on Sunday 15 October will reveal all with tours of the region's first cardiac catheterisation laboratory, inpatient units and larger Emergency Department.
The cardiac cath lab has been installed and recruitment of staff to work in the new facility is underway.
LRH will work in partnership with Alfred Health to provide diagnostic procedures and treatment to people with serious heart health issues.
Alfred Health cardiologist and Head of Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories, Dr Arch Broughton has praised the new theatre.
“We’re going to recruit two cardiologists (for LRH) and they will just be amazed when they come here to see this cath lab. Any hospital in Victoria would be jealous of a cath lab as fine as this one,” Dr Broughton said.
The hard work of fitting out the rest of the development, then commissioning equipment and training staff is underway. The new buildings will open to patients in November.
Join us for the Community Day on Sunday 15 October from 10am-2pm. It includes displays from emergency services and community organisations, food, children's activities and entertainment.
