Star supports paediatric care

Parents or carers who choose to stay overnight at Latrobe Regional Hospital with a sick child will soon benefit from improved facilities, thanks to a generous donation from a local media organisation.

The ‘Give me 5 for Kids’ campaign run by Star FM raised almost $5300 for paediatric care at LRH.

The funds will be used to purchase a chair which can be converted into a bed, enabling parents to stay close by their children receiving treatment in the Tarra paediatric unit.

The donation will also cover the cost of a special ‘corner chair’ for children accessing the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service through LRH’s Allied Health department and new toys for young patients.

The money was raised by the local radio station in a number of ways including a trivia night, ‘girls night out’ at the Warragul greyhound races and special collections and live broadcasts in towns across the Latrobe Valley and West Gippsland.
