CURRENT HOSPITAL VISITOR GUIDELINES
Under the changes to Victoria's pandemic orders, hospitals are able to tailor their own visitor guidelines based on what is happening in our community.
COVID-19 is still prevalent in the local area and as a result, we have decided to continue our restrictions on visitor numbers. For now, we believe they strike the right balance between protecting our vulnerable patients and allowing them access to family, carers and friends.
Maternity patients will be allowed 1 visitor at either of our visiting sessions 10am-12pm and 4pm-7pm. Visitors must be immediate family such as a grandparent of a baby, a sibling of the baby (over the age of 16) or the sibling of the parents. No children under the age of 16 will be allowed into the Thomson maternity unit. All visitors must undergo a rapid antigen test (RAT) on arrival to the Thomson Unit and wear a surgical mask which will be supplied at the hospital's main entrance. Our Special Care Nursery is still off limits to all except the parents of the baby in our care.
No visitors to our Avon Unit until further notice. These units are managing COVID-positive patients. End-of-life/palliative patients in Avon and Rehab will still be able to receive visitors who must wear full PPE (mask, eye protection, gloves and gown). These PPE items will be supplied.
