Aboriginal Employment Plan
Latrobe Regional Hospital is one of the largest employers in Gippsland and is aiming to take a leading role in demonstrating best-practice methods of producing meaningful employment and training outcomes to the local Aboriginal community.
In 2012 Latrobe Regional Hospital developed its first Aboriginal Employment Plan plan in accordance with Karreeta Yirramboi, a Victorian Government initiative to improve public-sector employment and career development outcomes for Aboriginal people.
Our new plan aligns with Barring Djinang, a five-year strategy by the Victorian Government to enhance Aboriginal employment across the public sector. Barring Djinang has adopted an Aboriginal employment target of 2 per cent for the Victorian Public Service. For LRH, this means an ongoing commitment to meaningful careers for current and future Aboriginal staff.
