Surgical

Emergency and elective surgery is conducted in 4 theatres at Latrobe Regional Hospital.
Elective surgery procedures are those for which admission can be delayed for at least 24 hours.
Your elective surgery is based on clinical need and will be categorised as urgent, semi-urgent or non-urgent (category 1, 2 or 3)
Our Patient Services Unit is the single point of entry for surgery bookings. PSU staff will confirm you have been placed on the elective surgery waiting list and notify your GP.
If you are referred to LRH for elective surgery you will attend a consultation to discuss the procedure. There will also be a follow-up consultation after surgery.
Our Pre Admission Clinic offers you the chance to ask questions about your surgery and will help plan your hospital stay and ongoing care when you return home.
The Day Surgery Unit conducts a range of elective and emergency procedures and in many instances patients are able to return home on the same day.
